We are sure that the very first thing you picture in your mind when thinking about weddings, is the bride and groom, right? A couple who is madly in love with one another, their day and faces filled with happy tears, laughter, dancing, and romance.
We are sure that one of the last things you think of, while picturing a wedding, are the table settings, bridal bouquets, the flowers lining the aisle, the secret pin that grandma gave the bride, and other small details, right?
Well, we are writing this blog post to inform you, that those small, and seemingly insignificant wedding details, can make or break your wedding album!
So let us be the first to tell you – Wedding Details are Important!
We truly believe that wedding details are some of the most beautiful pieces of your wedding story, that we can capture. You see, you spend all this time planning out everything to perfection. You found the perfect napkins that truly set off the centerpieces on the table. You were giddy with joy, when you found the perfect set of matching socks for your groom and his groomsmen to wear. And yet, on the day of the wedding, these small and yet important details can become lost in the blur of the wedding day.
Well, we truly believe that your photographers should be people who care just as much about the smaller details of your wedding, as you do! These are smaller pieces of your love story, and you deliberately chose them to help represent your dream day. Why wouldn’t your photographers take the time to capture these important puzzle pieces?
You might be now wondering, “Well, that’s true. But how will the wedding details make or break my wedding album?” We’re so glad you asked! You see, the wedding day will be a blur and rush of activity. You will forget something along the way, whether it’s your garter belt, or the hilarious face your bridesmaids made at your custom shoes. (Learn more about what people forget to tell you about your wedding day.) And these will be smaller things that you will want to remember down the road. And, in five, ten, fifteen, and even in twenty years, while you look through your wedding album, you’ll be so happy to see the small details that you spent hours planning and prepping for this momentous day!
You’ll be stunned to see the cute rhinestones on the back of your shoes that say “I Do”, or just how perfectly those napkins really did set off the centerpieces on your tables. You’ll cry when you see the necklace, surrounded by your bouquet, that was passed down to you from your great-great-grandmother.
These may be little things, especially when you take in the entire scope of the wedding day. But these little things, say a lot about you and your personality. These are the items and decorations that help to tell your story. These wedding details matter. And these wedding details, can make or break your wedding album. If you don’t have these smaller details captured and placed into your wedding album, you are leaving out a huge part of the story. You would be leaving out all the sweat and tears you poured into crafting them, setting them up, making sure they were perfect for your day.
And if you truly want to see the full story of your wedding day, we highly recommend allowing for an hour (or more, if the distance between locations is greater) for your photographers to capture the details, before they are disturbed by your guests. This includes portraits of your dress, your shoes, your rings, your invitations, the jewelry you will wear – heck, even the perfume you’re wearing! You’ll also want pictures of each location before everything you’ve set up has been touched. This includes the ceremony site, cocktail hour and reception sites as well.
This not only makes it easier for you to remember every detail of your wedding, big or small, but it will also give your photographers a perfect warm up for the day! Just like with sports, warming up ahead of time ensures perfect performance.
And, while you may not recognize this, but your wedding vendors, will LOVE you FOREVER, if you have these pictures sent to them as well. (Send us a list of your wedding vendors, and we will happily send the detail portraits to them as a special thank you for their hard work!) Seriously. They will become the photos found on Pinterest for future brides to dream about for their own big day!
So, do yourself a favor, and make sure your wedding photographers will capture all the little details that are to be found on your big day. We highly specialize this, and go over this point multiple times throughout our meetings with our brides. That is how important the little details are! And, who would want to see a wedding album with half the story missing? Certainly not us, and we are sure you feel the same way.
xoxo,
Jess
