If you ever wondered how a wedding would look in a movie theater, then this is the post for you! Jeff and I had the great pleasure of photographing some models in wedding attire at the Emerald Theatre in Mount Clemens, and the results are beyond stunning!
First, I should explain what exactly a styled wedding shoot is. Well, simply put, it is a collaborative effort between a variety of wedding vendors and models, coming together to create and capture a stunning mock wedding! The idea behind such an effort is a simple one: showcase the talents and artistic visions of these vendors that creatively express their various works, for all to see!
So, when Jeff and I had the opportunity to participate in this type of a photo session at the Emerald Theatre, we jumped on the chance! And, we are ever so glad we did. However, because of my dyslexia, I put the date in the calendar down wrong, and we almost missed out! ๐ Thankfully, the organizer of the event, reached out and we were able to arrive for most of the day’s session. (Phew!)
When we arrived, the first two models, Marie Casey and her Husband (see below), were just finishing up their time slot. I was able to capture a couple of quick shots of them and some of the details of their setup, before the next model was up.
The next model, Angie Fuller, then took her spot on the stage (literally) and posed for us. She was so much fun to work with! While on the stage, the lighting is a bit harsh, and it created a stunning and dramatic high contrast look, that we rarely encounter. We had a lot of fun making her laugh, and conversing with her while taking her pictures.
After our time on the stage with Angie, we then moved to the Emerald Theatre’s Rock Room. This room is totally badass. (Excuse my French, but it is.) We had a lot of time here with Angie, and she was game for anything. She even threw on a leather jacket to really match the theme of the Rock Room!
Once we were finished in the Rock Room, we then took Angie out into the upstairs upstairs lobby area. We were able to capture some amazing shots here, and when we showed Angie a few of them on the back of our camera, she was stunned! She even said, “Wow, I usually don’t like having my picture taken, because I feel I always look bad. But these are outstanding!” Well, she was a beautiful and excellent model, so I’m not sure why she would say such an awesome thing to us, but it really made our day. ๐
After those photos, it was time for Angie to head home. We said our goodbyes and started to capture some more details that were set up, while waiting for the last two models to get ready.
The next two models, Aaron and Tiffanie Atkisson, were up! We wanted to take some pictures outside of the Emerald Theatre, because it was kind of chilly that day. So, we wanted to get the coldness over with first, so everyone could warm up in the Rock Room afterwards. Aaron and Tiffanie are a beautiful husband and wife couple, whom you can really and truly tell love one another.
Once we finished with the outdoor photos, we then went straight to the Rock Room. It was the warmest room in the Emerald Theatre, and so we hung out there for a bit, to warm up, and to fully capture every part of this amazing room! The purple velvet all around was to die for, and the guitars and artwork found here, really just set the tone. We started in the booth area, with the purple velvet. After that, we had them sit on the couch under the portrait of Jimi Hendrix, for a couple more lovey-dovey poses. (Which, as I’m sure you all know, are my favorite kinds of poses! Lol!)
After we were warmed up completely from the Rock Room, we had Aaron and Tiffanie go to the balcony of the theater for a few shots. While Jeff set up his light stands, I took a quick snap of these two kissing in the seats of the balcony. However, Jeff really outdid me in this area. He captured the most perfect portraits of the night (in my humble opinion), that I’m still jealous of to this day!
We finished their photos with a trip to the upstairs lobby area, and then finally the stage itself. Aaron and Tiffanie were simply amazing to work with, and the photos we were able to capture with them are some of my favorite to be sure. But, none of this would have happened without the help of a few vendors. I’ll discuss them below, but first, I’ll show you the last pictures of the day with Aaron and Tiffanie.
And there you have it. Those are all of the photographs we captured throughout the four hours that we were there. We hope you enjoyed them as much as we enjoyed capturing them! However, I do want to give a shout out to everyone who was involved in this, as best I can.
